Martingale Collars
Martingale Collars (also called limited slip collars) are excellent for Rat Terriers. These sturdy, well made collars are priced right for use with your own ratties or for foster dogs as well. The Martingale dog collar was designed originally for Sighthounds because their necks are larger than their heads and they can often slip out of buckle collars. Ratties, though not quite as extremely share similar features to the Sighthound lines and also can easily slip from buckle collars.
Properly fitted martingale dog collars should be fitted to the exact size of the dog's neck when the collar is pulled closed. Properly fitted, the collar will be comfortably loose when not in use. When the Martingale control loop is pulled, the two slides (hardware on the small control loop of the Martingale Collar) should pull close together but the two slides should never touch.
